Step #1

Open Capcut on your PC and create a new project. Drag your video clip or image onto the timeline. Click on it to select it, making sure it’s ready for editing.

Step #2

Head to the Basic tab in Capcut’s toolbar. Adjust the scale slider to shrink your video or image slightly. This creates space around it, allowing the border to be visible.

Step #3

Find a plain image to use as your border (think solid colors or subtle patterns for a clean look). Drag and drop this border image onto the timeline, placing it directly below your video or image clip.

Step #4

With the border image selected, go to the Mask tab. Click Add Mask and ensure the Rectangle option is selected. Adjust the mask to fit the shape of your video or image as closely as possible.

Step #5

Switch back to the Basic tab. Scale up the border image until you’re happy with how it frames your video or image. Play around with the size to get the look you want.

Step #6

Select both the video/image and the border clips on the timeline at the same time. Right-click one of them and choose Create Compound Clip. This merges them into a single clip, making it easier to edit and move as one unit.

Step #7

Now that your clips are combined, adjust the position of the compound clip to center it or place it wherever it looks best in your project.

Step #8

If the mask or border doesn’t look quite right, go back to the Mask tab and tweak the shape or size. Capcut makes it easy to refine until you’re satisfied.

That’s it!

You’ve just added a sleek frame or border to your video or image in Capcut on PC. This simple trick can make your content look polished and professional.
