If you’ve ever needed to turn a bunch of PDF files into editable Word documents, you know it can be a hassle to do them one by one. Luckily, Adobe Acrobat Pro has a handy feature that lets you convert multiple PDFs to Word all at once.
This batch conversion trick is a lifesaver if you are dealing with multiple PDFs. Instead of opening and converting each file individually, you can process them all in one go, saving you a ton of time. Plus, keeping the original file names makes it easy to stay organized.
Here’s how to do it step by step:
Convert Multiple PDF Files to Word with Adobe Acrobat
Step 1: Open Adobe Acrobat Pro and Head to the Tools Section
Launch Adobe Acrobat Pro on your computer. On the top menu, click on “Tools.”
Step 2: Open the Action Wizard
Scroll down to the “Customize” section and find “Action Wizard.”
Click on it. Think of the Action Wizard as your personal assistant for bulk tasks.
Step 3: Create a New Action
Now it’s time to create a new action for this task.
- Click “New Action”
- A new window will pop up with different options
Step 4: Add Save & Export Tools
In this window, you will need to add some tools to your action.
- Under “Choose tools to add,” select “Save & Export”
- Then click on “Save”
- Hit the small plus (+) icon to open settings
Step 5: Set Your Preferences
Let’s make sure your files convert exactly how you want them to:
- Under “Specify Settings,” choose “Keep original file names”
- For “Output Format,” pick “Export files to alternate format”
- Then, select “Word Document” (choose the latest Word version unless you need an older one)
- Click “OK” and then “Save”
Step 6: Name and Save Your Action
Give your action a name like “PDF to Word”
Then click “Save” again. You will now see this custom action listed under your available actions.
Step 7: Run the Action and Convert Your PDFs
Now for the main event.
- Click on your newly created “PDF to Word” action
- Hit “Add Files” and select all the PDFs you want to convert
- Click “Start” and let Adobe Acrobat Pro do the work
It may take a minute or two, depending on how many files you are converting.
Step 8: Check Your Word Files
Once the process is complete, go back to the folder where your original PDFs were stored. You will now see Word versions of each file right there, ready to edit.
And that’s it!
Now you can open any of those Word files and make changes without any hassle.
