Step-by-Step Guide to Starting a Workout in Your Apple Watch
Step 1: Open the App Library
Start from your Apple Watch face. Press the Digital Crown (that round button on the side) to open the app library.
Step 2: Find and Tap the Workout App
Scroll through your apps until you find the Workout app. It’s the one with the green icon showing a running figure. Tap to open it.
Step 3: Pick Your Workout Type
Now you’ll see a list of different workouts. Just scroll through and choose the one that fits what you’re about to do. Some popular ones include:
- Outdoor Walk
- Indoor Walk
- Outdoor Run
- Indoor Run
- Outdoor Cycle
- Indoor Cycle
For example, if you’re heading out for a walk, tap Outdoor Walk.
Step 4: Start Moving
After you tap your workout, the Watch gives you a 3-second countdown. Your workout begins. No extra steps, no fuss.
Step 5: Track Your Stats While You Move
Once your workout starts, your screen will show all the good stuff:
- Time: How long have you been active
- Calories: Your active calorie burn
- Heart Rate: Your current heart rate
Step 6: Slide for More Options
Swipe left during your workout and you’ll see:
- A music control screen to play your favorite songs
- A pause button to take a break
- An end button to finish your workout
- A segment button, if you want to mark different parts of your session
